RTHK 鏗鏘集: Schools helping teach children from NCS familes.

Writer's picture: CALHKCALHK

Nice to hear young people from NCS households speaking positively about their experience learning Chinese - and even Chinese history.

The programme talks to schools which are really trying to help, but still there is clearly a lack of teaching materials to support the Chinese Language Curriculum Second Language Learning Framework. This means it's hard for students to work in a methodical way towards high levels of proficiency in reading and writing Chinese.

And it's very unfortunate to hear so many young people, who speak fabulous Chinese, being referred to throughout as 'non-Chinese speaking'.
